The Port Arthur Rotary Club warmly invites all Rotarians across Thunder Bay to attend an important and meaningful community information session on the proposed Temporary Shelter Village initiative.
The meeting will take place on June 8th at 7:00 PM at The Salvation Army Journey to Life Centre, 545 Cumberland Street North, and will begin with a special preview performance by the Fort William Male Choir. Known for their rich harmonies and longstanding tradition in Thunder Bay, the choir’s performance will provide a welcoming and uplifting start to an evening focused on community, compassion, and collaboration.
This gathering is an opportunity for Rotarians to come together, learn more about one of the community’s most significant efforts to address homelessness, and explore how Rotary may play a meaningful role in supporting positive change in Thunder Bay.
The Temporary Shelter Village is part of United Way’s Pathways to HOME initiative and proposes the development of 80 individual shelter units, each supported through community partnerships and sponsorships designed to help individuals move from homelessness toward stability and permanent housing. During the session, community leaders and project representatives will provide current information on the initiative, answer questions, and discuss possible opportunities for Rotary involvement through financial support, volunteer engagement, and hands-on community-building projects.
The evening is intended to encourage thoughtful discussion, collaboration, and shared understanding around a complex issue affecting many people in our city. Whether you are looking to learn more, ask questions, or explore how Rotary can collectively contribute, all Rotarians are encouraged to attend and be part of the conversation. Please RSVP by June 4th to shelleyccrawford@gmail.com if possible.
