LAKEHEAD'S ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR
LORI MARTINEAU - 2019/20
This award is established by the Board of Lakehead Rotary to recognize a Member who has exceeded expectations, provided exceptional service to the Club or Community as a Rotarian, or who is recognized by fellow Members for a significant achievement as a Rotarian in the current Rotary Year.  It is not intended to recognize a Member for successive years of achievement or service though this may be acknowledged as the Rotarian of the Year [ROY] is recognized in the current year.  Members may receive this honour more than once.
Lakehead's Board of Directors is honoured to recognize LORI MARTINEAU as Lakehead Rotary’s ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR for 2019-2020.  Lori’s nomination was unanimously approved and applauded by the Board.

Lori is engaged in all of the club's fundraising and service activities.  She attends our events regularly and volunteers when she can.  She sponsors a month of meetings but shares this opportunity with the MS Society - Thunder Bay and promotes MS events and programs in the community.

She has hosted our Members at her A&W Restaurant on Arthur and donated all of the meal fees to our Club to help fund programs supported by Lakehead Rotary.  She was hoping to do this regularly when the pandemic landed and prevented us from meeting in person.  We look forward to the opportunity to meet once again and to attend those special times at A&W.

Last year, Lori agreed to sponsor our December Dreams show and her generosity enabled us to enhance our marketing efforts.  She directed this sponsorship into another opportunity to promote the MS Society in our Dreams show marketing efforts and by way of a MS Booth at the show.

Lori is also nominated as our Rotarian of the Year for her leadership in the community to assist MS Society events and fund raising programs through her businesses here and as part of the A&W national campaign for the benefit of the MS Society Canada.

Lori demonstrates the qualities that Rotary promotes and truly puts "service above self” into action.

The recipient of Lakehead Rotary’s Rotarian of the Year Award receives an inscribed plaque and their name is added to the Club’s Honour Roll.  President Sandy Lychowyd presented the ROY plaque to Lori in front of her Harbour A&W restaurant observing social distancing.
